A man has been arrested after a major fire broke out at an LGBT+ nightclub in Melton Keynes in the early hours of Sunday.
Emergency services were called to Pink Punters at around 2 a.m. after footage showed flames engulfing the top floor and roof of the building. Fire crews—up to 12 at the height of the incident—worked to contain the blaze, while thick smoke was seen rising into the sky.
Police confirmed that partygoers and nearby residents along Watling Street were safely evacuated, with no injuries reported.
A 51-year-old man from Milton Keynes has since been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and remains in custody.
Authorities, including Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, stayed at the scene as investigations continued and road closures remained in place through Sunday afternoon.
Chief Superintendent Emma Baillie described the incident as significant, noting that a large number of people had to be evacuated. She praised staff at the venue for acting quickly to ensure everyone’s safety and cautioned against speculation as inquiries into the cause of the fire continue.
