A man identified as Azeez has reportedly d!ed after he was allegedly b3@ten by suspected cultists during a dispute over a missing mobile phone in the Oko-Oba area of Agege, Lagos State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday, August 3, after Azeez and some associates became involved in an argument over a missing phone following a party.
According to reports, the disagreement escalated into a physical att@ck, during which Azeez was allegedly a$s@ulted by some suspected cultists said to be his friends. He reportedly sustained serious injuries and later d!ed.
Anti-cultism advocacy platform Naija Confra gave a detailed account of the incident in a post published on Saturday, August 8, alleging that the events began during a birthday celebration on the night of Sunday, August 2.
According to the platform, a fight broke out at the gathering, during which a man identified as Abela allegedly picked up a mobile phone and handed it to Azeez for safekeeping.
Naija Confra claimed the phone’s owner later discovered it was missing and began searching for it. When the device was eventually traced to Azeez, he allegedly explained that Abela had given it to him.
The platform further alleged that Abela denied handing the phone to Azeez despite claims that witnesses saw him do so.
According to the account, the phone’s owner and some associates allegedly att@cked Azeez before leaving the venue after reportedly being unable to confront Abela.
Naija Confra also claimed that Azeez later confronted Abela over the alleged denial, leading to another altercation that reportedly escalated into a fresh a$s@ult.
The platform alleged that Azeez was subsequently taken to another location by suspected members of a cult group, where he was further att@cked.
He reportedly later d!ed from the injuries sustained during the alleged ass@ult.
As of the time of filing this report, the police have not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
