A Nigerian woman has generated outrage online after giving advise to young women about love and marriage.
In the video shared by @Dammiedammie35 on X, the lady addressed her young women, warning that independence may be preventing some of them from finding husbands.
“My dear girls, I want to warn you. We have to lower our standard because it’s getting too much. Independent woman, independent woman is getting too much,” she said.
She stated that she had previously advised women to be independent, earn their own money, and be self-sufficient before picking a relationship. However, she now warns that setting too high a standard may lead to loneliness.
“No, let’s be brutal, let’s be honest. I know I’ve been saying women make your own money, be independent before you choose your partner. If you don’t get, in short, if you don’t lower your standard now, you’re going to end up lonely,” she added.
She provided a vivid image of what life may be like if women insist on maintaining very high standards.
“Very lonely in a beautiful resort, travelling from one country to another, sipping juice in the yacht, sipping champagne, enjoying yourself, coming into your beautiful decorated apartment where everything is already there. Beautiful, aesthetically pleasing apartment. You might have cats or dog, I don’t know, but the most important thing is that your toilet seat is always going to be closed. Nobody’s going to be touching your things anyhow. Are you sure you’re not going to lower your standard like this? Are you sure?”
