Many people were shocked when a Nigerian woman posted a startling story about her late husband’s relatives on social media.
She claims that the incident happened barely four months after her husband passed away, while she was still getting used to living alone.
Narrating the ordeal, read what she said below:
“My husband’s elder brother came to meet me and said he wanted me to have a child for him because he has been married for 17 years without a child.
I asked him why me, and he said he wants me to do it for him. I refused. I told him I cannot have a child for two brothers in the same family.”
She clarified that once she declined the request, things got worse because they didn’t stop there.
The woman claimed that her mother-in-law later called her and confronted her about the same problem.
“My mother-in-law asked me why I refused. I told her I can’t do such a thing. She then told me that if I’m not willing to do it, I should leave their family. I felt disrespected and decided to walk away,” she added.
Her story has since sparked widespread reactions online.
One user wrote, “Some in-laws are something else. This is actually scary 😳,” while another commented, “What kind of tradition is this? Crazy things are happening.”
Discussions regarding cultural norms, family pressure, and the value of establishing boundaries—particularly in delicate situations—have also been sparked by the occurrence.
