Osarobo Odigie, a Lagos-based lady, has filed a lawsuit against prominent TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat, also known as Peller, for alleged defamation, cyber harassment, and invasion of privacy following a disagreement at a nightclub.
In a pre-action letter dated March 10, 2026, Odigie’s legal representatives from FA Garrick & Co. accused the influencer of insulting their client and recording her without her permission before uploading the footage online.
The lawyers, lead by Bola Osineye, stated that the incident occurred in the early hours of January 6, 2026 at.
According to the letter, Odigie had gone to the lounge to buy lunch and was standing near the cashier when the incident occurred.
“Our client was present at Folixxx Lounge… for the purpose of purchasing food. While standing at the counter/cashier area, our client was suddenly startled by your loud outburst directly behind her,” the lawyers stated.
They claimed Odigie moved away from the influencer because to the noise, but he later confronted her and asked to know why she stepped aside.
The letter further claimed that the influencer urged her to “shut up” and began verbally insulting her after she begged him to regulate his behaviour in public.
The comments included Yoruba obscenities like “Oloriburuku,” “Omo Ale,” and “Ashawo,” which the lawyers regarded as libellous and degrading.
The claimant’s legal team also accused the streamer of capturing the altercation without her permission and disseminating the video on other social media sites.
“You proceeded to escalate the situation by producing your mobile phone and using the same to record our client without her consent,” the letter stated.
According to the lawyers, the video was thereafter shared on sites such as Snapchat, WhatsApp, TikTok, and Instagram, where it swiftly acquired traction due to the influencer’s big following.
They claimed that the popular video sparked hundreds of internet comments that repeated and amplified the insults, resulting in harassment and cyberbullying against Odigie.
According to the letter, the circumstance caused her significant emotional pain and reputational harm.
“Our client has suffered significant emotional distress and has developed genuine fears for her safety,” the lawyers added.
Odigie is demanding N395 million in damages as part of his demands.
Her legal team is seeking N200 million for the alleged defamatory publication, N100 million for emotional trauma and reputational damage, and N75 million for distress related to cyberbullying and threats.
They also wanted N20 million to cover legal bills and other associated costs.
Aside from the financial claims, the lawyers asked the influencer to remove the video from all social media platforms and stop further distribution.
They also demanded him to issue a public apology on his social media profiles and in national newspapers, including and.
According to the letter, the apology must explicitly declare that the remarks made against their client were “false, malicious, and injurious” to her reputation.
The legal team also directed the influencer to notify blogs and other platforms that reposted the video, ensuring that it be removed within seven days.
They threatened that failure to meet the requests would result in the immediate launch of a lawsuit.
“Should you fail, refuse, or neglect to comply… our client shall, without further recourse to you, institute appropriate legal proceedings against you,” the letter stated.
The argument stems from a widely reported encounter between the streamer and the woman at the Lagos lounge on January 6, 2026.
Days after the incident, on January 9, 2026. a public apology video was made in response to online criticism.
In the video, he stated that his attitude during the confrontation was out of character and apologised for his actions.
