A social media user on X, formerly known as Twitter, has shared a surprising story about a woman who allegedly staged a wedding in order to receive financial gifts from her workplace.

According to the post, employees in the organisation had a longstanding tradition of contributing money whenever a colleague was preparing to get married.

Under the arrangement, management reportedly provides ₦100,000, while staff members contribute an additional ₦50,000.

The poster, who claimed the story involved a colleague of his sister, said the woman had worked at the organisation for several years and was well aware of the policy.

She was reportedly preparing to leave the company after securing a new job in another state.

Before her departure, she allegedly printed a fake wedding invitation card and submitted it to her manager, setting the usual wedding support process in motion.

Following the submission, coworkers reportedly began contributing toward what they believed was her upcoming wedding ceremony.

According to the post, the organisation released a total of ₦150,000 to her one week before the supposed event, in line with its practice of supporting employees ahead of their weddings.

Shortly after receiving the funds, she allegedly resigned from her position.

The story further claimed that a day before the scheduled wedding date, she privately informed a colleague that the wedding was not real, explaining that she acted because she had contributed financially to many coworkers’ weddings over the years and felt entitled to benefit from the same system.
