A Nigerian lady sparked reactions on social media after sharing a video detailing the meals she ate at the funeral of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, which was held in Arochukwu, Abia State, on Thursday, June 18.
In the viral video, she began by responding to critics who questioned why guests ate at the actor’s funeral.
“‘If it gets to your turn and you attend a funeral and you’re offered food, throw it away, okay?” she told critics.
She disclosed that she was served small chops, goat meat pepper soup, white rice with Chinese sauce, Singapore noodles, and African salad, popularly known as Abacha. She added that her final meal at the event was boiled corn and peas.
According to her, guests also danced during the reception after the meal.
“We danced! We celebrated a good man who lived a fulfilled life at 40. We celebrated a man who loved to live and live for others. I don’t understand people saying Why did they celebrate him? Why did they throw a lavish burial? Why did you guys eat at the funeral? bla bla blah…
A lot of people travelled for hours. People flew for this funeral. Were they supposed to come and go back hungry? No! The least you can do for your guest is to serve them food. You wouldn’t gather people in this number, and you will not give them food. Nobody is saying that when you eat it is going to disrespect the de@d. No! The de@d is de@d and gone. The least you can do is to make the best out of his memory, live for him because he wanted to live. People who know Alexx know he was the life of the party, and this is what he would have wanted. People to come and celebrate the good life that he had lived’. She said.
