Timaya, a Nigerian music singer, has sparked debate on social media after revealing his forthright opinion on marriage in a recent video clip.
In a short video circulating online, the singer stated that some guys forego marriage altogether and instead focus on producing children.
According to him: “Just born pikin, the pikin go grow, this marriage thing no dey work.”
His comment rapidly went viral, eliciting conflicting reactions from fans and social media users who had opposing views on relationships, parenthood, and marriage.
Several people disagreed with the singer’s advice, noting that not marrying could lead to loneliness later in life.
A user known as Chief & Queen noted that while being a “baby daddy” may appear easy at first, it can have emotional ramifications afterward.
