The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the safe release of businessman Chief J. J. Ezeokafor, father of socialite Jowizaza, and a Rev. Sister who were reportedly abd¥cted by armed criminals in the Ifite-Awka area.
Ezeokafor was reportedly k|dnapped in the early hours of Tuesday, August 4, after leaving his residence to attend a prayer session in Awka.
In a statement, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that both victims have regained their freedom. He said the police are taking necessary steps to determine the circumstances surrounding their release and gather useful information that could help investigators identify and apprehend those responsible.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the safe return of the victims and ordered security operatives to intensify intelligence-driven operations and continue the search for the suspected abd¥ctors.
The ongoing security operation involves personnel from the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), Military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Agunechemba Security Operatives, and other relevant security agencies.
Authorities said efforts are ongoing to uncover the circumstances of the abd¥ction and bring those responsible to justice.
