Faithia Balogun Williams, a Nollywood actress and filmmaker, has lost her mother just hours before her 55th birthday.

The actress revealed the news on social media, shocking fans and prompting many to express sympathy.

Birthday Celebration Overshadowed by Tragedy

Faithia, who turned 55 on Thursday, February 5, held a star-studded birthday party on Sunday, February 8.

Guests included Nollywood stars Malaika, Funke Akindele, Pasuma, Kazim Adeoti, Regina Chukwu, Fausat Balogun, and Shaffy Bello.

Faithia announced her mother’s d£•th on social media shortly after the party.

She explained that the family had kept the news from her until after the event.

In her post, Faithia wrote, “Dear friends, it was my 55th birthday on Thursday, February 5. However, I chose to have a party yesterday, Sunday. Unbeknownst to me, my beloved mother died on the eve of my party and the news was cruelly kept away from me. The reality of her passing has not totally dawned on me because she was my cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner wrapped in the invaluable gift of a mother.”

She added that the family would remain private during this period, and burial details would be shared later.
