Israeli Officials Deny Involvement as Two Explosions Rock Iran

According to a report by the Times of Israel on Saturday 31 January, 2026, two blasts rattled Iran earlier today, but Israeli officials have quickly denied any role in the incidents, telling Reuters that Israel was not involved.

The first explosion struck a residential building in the Gulf coast city of Bandar Abbas. Iranian state media reported that the blast damaged an eight-story structure, destroying two floors and wreaking havoc on nearby vehicles and shops along Moallem Boulevard. Authorities say the cause is still under investigation.

Meanwhile, in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, a separate incident claimed the lives of four people. State media described it as a gas explosion in the Kianshahr neighborhood of Ahvaz city. Details remain scarce, and Iranian officials could not be reached for comment.

Both events are currently under investigation, though state outlets have provided little additional information. The incidents come amid a tense regional climate, but no link has been established between them and any external actors.
