Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz again after signing peace agreement with US

Iran is reportedly closing the Strait of Hormuz again, blaming the presence of US soldiers in the region and Israel’s failure to withdraw troops from southern Lebanon.

According to the New York Post, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed the US violated the memorandum of understanding agreed by President Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

“Since Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon, the complete lifting of the naval blockade, and the withdrawal of American t£rror!st forces from the Persian Gulf and the region are among the main conditions of the agreement between Iran and the United States, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until these conditions are met,” it stated. “For the sake of security and safety, all ships are requested not to approach the Strait of Hormuz.” “Any vessel that disregards this directive will be targeted.”
