“I’m totally innocent of these fabricated allegations made against me” — Rick Ross

After being detained in Miami Beach, Florida, on charges of domestic abuse, including felony battery by strangulation, American rapper Rick Ross was released from custody.

Early on Thursday, October 1, 2026, Ross—real name William Leonard Roberts II—voluntarily turned himself in to Miami Beach police. At around 6:10 a.m., he was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

The 50-year-old rapper was accused of misdemeanor battery and felony battery by strangulation. Allegations of an August 28, 2026, incident at his Star Island residence led to his arrest.

An arrest affidavit states that a woman with the initials J.K. told police that Ross confronted her about an Instagram photo, which led to a heated argument.

She claimed that during the altercation, Ross hit her and made it difficult for her to breathe, causing her to sustain injuries like a split or bloodied lip.

Reports citing the affidavit state that the woman reported the incident to Miami Beach police on September 29 and gave them pictures of the alleged injuries.

The accusations were made soon after Jazzma Kendrick, Ross’s ex-girlfriend, posted pictures of an injured lip and publicly accused him of physical abuse on social media.

Authorities have not, however, publicly acknowledged that every social media accusation was a component of the criminal case.

Ross’ attorneys have denied the charges, calling him falsely accused and citing the time lag between the purported incident and the police report. Ross entered a not guilty plea.

Following his arrest, Ross appeared before Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Mindy S. Glazer. The judge ordered him to avoid the alleged victim, and his lawyer entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf. His bond was reportedly $5,000, though some jail records have stated different amounts.

Ross firmly denied the accusations against him as he left jail after posting bond and had a brief conversation with reporters.

“I’m totally innocent of these fabricated allegations made against me.”

In addition, he expressed gratitude to his legal team and stated that he anticipated the case being settled through the legal system.

Ross seemed preoccupied with his next trip, despite the legal situation.

The rapper informed reporters that he would be traveling to Dubai on Friday, October 2, and then Paris on Saturday. Then he made a joke about what he was going to eat on Sunday: “a bowl of rigatoni with heavy marinara.”

On October 22, Ross is due back in court for an arraignment. His release on bond has no bearing on the case’s outcome, and the accusations are still unresolved.
