In response to the widely shared video of his singing “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand” with Seyi Tinubu, businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose insisted that his friendship with the president’s son does not imply that he has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He shared on his Instagram page that he had a great time at a gathering with Cubana Chief Priest Seyi Tinubu and others, where they talked about politics and a number of other topics before concluding the evening with prayers.
“I spent quality time with Seyi Tinubu, Cubana Chief Priest and the rest of us last night. We discussed politics, we discussed everything discussable. When I was leaving, Seyi said, ‘Uncle Isaac, let me walk you to your car,’” he said.
He clarified that as they prepared to part ways, they made the decision to pray together, including for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Fayose emphasised that he is still totally devoted to the Obidient Movement and that praying for the President should not be seen as joining the APC.
“That doesn’t mean I’m in APC. I’m still 101% Obidient. Tinubu’s family are my family. I love Tinubu, but I told them we’re still going to win them. This is politics without hate,” he added.
He stated that despite political disagreements, he still views the Tinubu family as close to his own and that politics shouldn’t ruin friendships or family relationships.
He ended by saying that he wanted to see a better Nigeria and that friendships and personal ties shouldn’t be ruined by politics.
