Nigerian broadcast journalist Adedayo Oderinu has stirred debate online after stating that a man has failed as a husband if he does not invest enough in his wife to make her attractive to other men.

The civil engineer-turned-journalist made the remark in a Facebook post on Sunday, May 17, 2026, while reacting to a post by an X user identified as Nonso.

Nonso had argued that when married women are approached by other men, it reflects disrespect toward their husbands and suggests a failure on the part of the family. In response, Oderinu shared his opposing opinion, which has since generated mixed reactions on social media.

“The Frankly speaking, if you don’t invest in your wife enough to make her attractive to other men, I think you have failed as a husband. The only things you have that other people don’t want, are the useless things,” he wrote.
