Spyro has continued to condemn notable pastors and public personalities for their silence on Nigerian insecurity, claiming that any pastor who refuses to speak up at this moment is “part of the system”.
During an emotional Instagram Live, the singer stated that Nigerians are afraid to travel due to the rising insecurity, querying how people can move freely when there are threats of kidnappings on main roads. He also criticised the situation of the country, claiming that terrible films of violence and kidnapped children now keep him awake at night, making it difficult for him to sleep.
Spyro cited cases including stolen children and victims of violent attacks, claiming that Nigerians are traumatised while many powerful church leaders keep mute. He believes that pastors are leaders who should not only preach but also speak out in times of national catastrophe.
The musician stated that he often defends the church but believes it is time to share the unpleasant truth, claiming that the silence of famous pastors and celebrities signifies comfort and convenience while poor Nigerians suffer.
Spyro also stated that if renowned pastors had loved ones kidnapped, the church would certainly mobilise fast, raising the question of why the same energy is not being used to speak up for citizens who are currently in dread.
