Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that he shut down the Office of the First Lady when he was governor of Anambra State because he believed it was unnecessary
In a video shared by Advocacy For Good Governance, Obi said he told his wife that the office of First Lady was unconstitutional. He said he also told her that the responsibility of governing Anambra belonged solely to him because he was the person elected by the people of the state
In Obi words: “I said ‘You are not happy because I shut down office of first lady, it should not exist. Nobody voted for you, you are just my wife and I love you so you stay at home with me. It is me who they voted for to deal with this matter.’ Because I found out we were going to spend more money for an office that had no value than education”
