“I thought i was ready for marriage…” — Lady shares shock experience

A lady has ignited an online debate after recounting how a seemingly casual encounter in Lagos swiftly developed into a marriage proposal that made her rethink her willingness to commit.

She stated that the incident occurred in 2023, shortly after she returned to Lagos following her graduation from university in December 2022.

According to her testimony, what began as a typical conversation with a man she met quickly escalated into passionate marriage conversations, including preparations to visit her family within months of knowing each other.

I graduated in December 2022 and came back to Lagos in 2023 just trying to figure out my life. Then I met this guy and we started talking normally. He suddenly said he wanted to meet my people in May and even talked about opening a business for me and taking care of everything. At that point I realized I was not ready at all. It sounded like my life was moving too fast, almost like a threat.”

She added that the event made her think about how many people believe they are emotionally ready for marriage until they are confronted with real-life pressures and commitment deadlines.

Relationship specialists frequently point out that such scenarios are not uncommon, particularly among young adults transitioning from school to work, a trend witnessed in previous viral stories in which hasty engagements resulted in last-minute withdrawals from weddings.
