A woman who previously appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance after her mother’s captors allegedly demanded a ₦50 million ransom has reacted to recent developments in the case.
Her response followed the release of her mother and reports that preliminary investigations suggested the k!dnapping may have been staged, with alleged involvement from her mother and other individuals whose identities have not been disclosed.
The visibly emotional woman said the allegations have left her family shocked and devastated, stressing that she had no prior knowledge of what investigators now claim.
She also expressed concern about the effect of the situation on her father, whom she said is currently facing health challenges.
The woman apologised to Nigerians who contributed during the fundraising effort, maintaining that her actions were motivated solely by concern for her mother’s safety.
The development has generated widespread reactions online, with many expressing sympathy for the daughter while awaiting the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
Speaking on the development, she said:
“My mum has been released and there’s an ongoing investigation. It has been investigated that there’s an involvement of my mum in this k!dnapping case. I only did what any child would do to save their mum or ensure the safe return of their mum.”
“Words can’t express how the family is in shock. I am in shock. My whole family has been shattered. My dad has some health issues, and I don’t even know how he’s going to go through this. I have no hand in this. I never knew. I only wanted my mum back home,” she added.
