A woman has cried out for help after a disagreement between her husband and mother during an omugwo visit left her struggling to care for her newborn and two-year-old child.
The woman, who related her experience in a message to “Mummy Ngozi,” stated that her mother initially refused to stay with her after the birth of her second kid due to an incident involving her husband.
She explained that her mother arrived for omugwo but got into a dispute with her husband, during which he allegedly smacked her.
According to the woman, her mother left after only two months, rather than the planned three months, and her husband did not offer any omugwo goods for her.
She claimed her mother refused to return since she had supported her husband during the quarrel.
The woman stated that her husband’s mother had also rejected to attend, leaving her to care for her infant and two-year-old primarily on her own.
She further stated, “This is my 2nd baby and I need her here but she refused to come simple because I supported my husband.”
The mother of two said that caring for the children without help had gotten overwhelming, especially since her first kid needed attention as she attends for the infant.
She described an episode in which her infant wailed excessively at nite, causing her husband to complain that the child was bothering him.
She said, “I have been begging my mom to come and she is wickeding me. I don’t know how to handle all these things alone.”
Her story has stirred debate about family tensions, marital support, and the difficulties new mothers may face when standard postpartum support fails.
