“I had to go for therapy” – Scarlet Gomez reveals mental health struggles after ‘Wura’ role

Scarlet Gomez, a Nollywood actress, has discussed the psychological and emotional effects of her role in the popular TV show Wura.

In a recent interview, she disclosed that she found it challenging to detach herself from the part since she was so engrossed in the job that it started to influence her actions in real life.

“I’m waking up in the morning, I’m number one on the call sheet. I’m hearing people call me number one; people are attending to me. I felt like I was Wura,” she said.

She clarified that after filming, the atmosphere became stressful since she found it difficult to resume her regular self while playing multiple characters.

She claims that the experience became so overwhelming that she needed to go to therapy in order to assist her break free from the role.

“I had to do therapy after Wura because it was bad. I went back to my YouTube jobs and I’m supposed to play the victim, and somebody is talking to me and I’m looking at the person like, ‘Do you know who I am?

I can just kill you now, nobody will find your body.’ My brain was bad. I knew I needed therapy,” she added.

The lead actress in Wura added that she learned a valuable lesson about acting and mental health from the experience.

She came to the conclusion that, particularly if you’ve been playing the role for a while, it’s simpler to get into character than to get out of it.
