A man recently revealed how a simple test to assess his wife’s devotion resulted in the end of their five-year marriage.He confessed that, although earning 500,000 naira each month, he only saved 100,000 naira because practically all of his earnings went towards supporting his wife.

He financed her studies up to the Master’s degree level, allowing her to progress from her O-Level results at the time of their marriage.

Over time, he began to wonder if she genuinely loved me as much as I loved her.

This question lingered in his mind, particularly since he had never tested her love before. One day, he decided to conduct a modest experiment.

He entered false medical reports and made a fake hospital stamp to make things appear authentic.

When he disclosed the results to his wife at home, she became panicked and angry.

She shouted: “You have destroyed your life! I used to warn you that the pain relief drugs you take are too much.”

He explained that he occasionally took pain relievers due to work-related stress and lengthy hours in traffic.

She continued: “Now see the result. You will face the consequences alone. I don’t have strength for this kind of problem.”

Shockingly, she then suggested him to contact his brother in the United Kingdom so that he might come there for better care. While he feigned to think about her statements, she started calling his family.

“Kola’s kidneys are damaged. It’s not my fault so nobody should blame the food I cook. I warned him many times about taking too many pain relief drugs like paracetamol and Panadol,” she told them.

Many relatives began calling him, but he stayed cool and begged them to relax, promising to explain later.

Kneeling before his wife, he then asked: “You were right that you warned me before. But right now I need a kidney donor. Please donate one of your kidneys for me.”

Her response shocked him further. She said: “Me ke??? What about your mother? Your father? Your siblings?”

He reminded her that they had been married for five years without having a child, and that physicians had claimed the problem was on her end. Despite this, he had stuck by her side, funded her schooling, and paid for numerous medical treatments. He begged again.

“Please help me donate a kidney.”

She refused, saying: “Looking for a child and kidney problem are not the same thing. God that gave us two kidneys knows why. I cannot do it. Call your family.”

She then called his family again. But something happened that made him emotional: his mother offered to donate one of her kidneys, and his father also offered to donate one, allowing him to have two complete kidneys.

At that point, he admitted the truth: the illness was a hoax and he was not genuinely ill. When his wife heard this, she laughed and said she already knew and was just acting. But he did not believe her.

He said that despite supporting her for five years, paying for medical procedures, and never demeaning or punishing her for their childlessness, she had refused to assist him in a dire circumstance. He realised that she didn’t really love him.

He urged her to leave the house and filed for divorce. Many people attempted to intervene and soothe him, but he stayed steadfast, claiming that recalling her reaction increased his resolve.

She has now moved out, and the divorce procedure will begin next month.He ended with a reflection: “Never love your mother more than your wife.”
