A man has sparked reactions online after publicly claiming to be the biological father of popular Afrobeats singer Asake.
In a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), the man claimed that he fathered the singer while still a teenager but later gave the child up for adoption.
He claims that the decision was made at the time because he was young and careless, admitting that he did not take responsibility seriously after the child’s birth.
The man also claimed that the child was originally named Tanimutanku, but later changed his name and severed ties with his biological family.
In his own words, he said:
“A lot of people do not know that I was a teenage father. When I was a teenager I had a son, and I ended up giving him up for adoption, mostly because I just didn’t care.”
He claimed that the boy grew up to become the famous singer known today as Asake.
The man openly admitted that if he had known the child would become successful, he would not have allowed him to be adopted.
He stated that he would have raised him himself in order to enjoy the success he now has.
He went on to plead with the singer to reconnect with him and support him financially:
“We named him Tanimutanku, but he changed his name because he didn’t want anything to do with us. Now you all know him as Asake. Asake, please come home. Daddy needs money.”
This comes days after the singer surprised both his father and mother with luxurious vehicles reportedly worth millions of dollars.
The claim has since stirred mixed reactions on social media, with many questioning the authenticity of the statement.
