“I found out that her…” – Man shares experience with neighbour who kept borrowing everything

A Nigerian man sparked outrage after recounting his encounter with a neighbour who constantly begging for goods shortly after moving into his compound.

In a tweet posted on X (previously Twitter), @lizzyjollof reported that the neighbour knocked on his door the day she moved in.

After introducing herself, she asked whether he had spaghetti or macaroni, saying that her daughter couldn’t sleep unless she ate.

Read the post below;

“I actually had spaghetti, but I told her I didn’t, because I have come to understand that it’s not every need you answer, especially when it’s a stranger.”

He claimed that what began as a minor request gradually escalated into frequent borrowing, ranging from Maggi to table water, charger, mixer, and even a power bank.

The situation worsened when she borrowed ₦20,000 and failed to repay it, only to request an additional ₦30,000 some days later.

“That was where I drew the line. After that, everything in my house suddenly became ‘finished’. I would always tell her I was using my charger, my power bank, everything,” he added.

He also revealed that he later discovered she had a baby daddy who sponsored her, implying she didn’t genuinely lack the stuff she was borrowing, which made him wonder her true motivations.

Many online users responded, with some relaying similar experiences and warning about creating early boundaries with neighbours.

The incident has generated discussions about personal limits, with many agreeing that not every request deserves a yes, especially from strangers.

One user wrote, “You try sef, ₦20k? I no go even reach that stage.” Another added, “Na you spoil am from the beginning 😂 once you give them space, they go turn it to office.”
