“I found out her father had died that exact night” — Teacher recounts heartbreaking incident

A devastating family tragedy occurred in 2021 as a result of a secondary school student’s refusal to accompany her father to an ATM, according to a teacher’s account.

Despite being unable to read a JSS 1 textbook, the girl was initially brought for admission into JSS 3, according to the teacher, who worked at a school in Ikorodu, Lagos.

The teacher was asked to give the girl private lessons at her house twice a week for N15,000 after voicing concerns to his supervisor.

According to the teacher, the girl’s father asked her to go with him down the street to learn how to use an ATM during one of the lessons.

The teacher claims that despite her father’s and the teacher’s pleas, the girl refused and complained of hunger and a headache.

The teacher said, “I even gave her ₦200 to buy something to eat, but she bluntly refused to move.”

When the teacher went to the family’s house the next Thursday after observing the girl’s absence from school, she learned that her father had passed away that evening after going to the ATM by himself.

According to the teacher, the widow subsequently revealed that her late husband’s bank account contained N450,000, which represented her business capital.

The account claims that after collecting the ATM card, the man’s younger brother gave the widow only N20,000, saying the remaining funds were needed for funeral arrangements. Look through Men’s Gear

The teacher further claimed that the widow and her daughter were relocated to a tiny room in the backyard after the uncle sold the family home in less than two weeks.

The girl’s refusal to go with her father to learn how to use the ATM that evening, according to the teacher, made the experience even more painful.
