“I drove to 3rd mainland bridge to end my life” – Ubi Franklin opens up on failed marriage to Lilian Esoro, shares lesson learnt

Ubi Franklin, a Nigerian music businessman, has talked candidly about the emotional difficulties he encountered during his unsuccessful marriage to actress Lilian Esoro. He revealed that the experience drove him to consider suicide.

In a video posted to his Instagram page, he talked about how he met Lilian on January 4, 2015, proposed to her a few months later, and planned a meal at the Eko Hotel to celebrate their engagement—only for her to vanish and leave the engagement ring behind.

“On the 4th of January 2015, that’s when I met my now ex-wife. I engaged her on the 19th of March 2015. After I engaged her, I set up a nice dinner at the Red Restaurant of the Eko Hotel. I invited all my friends, big boys, everybody. She didn’t turn up. She had dropped the ring and left.

“I was so embarrassed because it was a big thing on social media. Everybody was talking about it. Have you ever cried to a point where you cannot cry again? That’s where I was,” he said.

Even though they eventually got married, their love terminated and they parted ways.Getting married

In retrospect, Ubi disclosed that he experienced severe depression and attempted suicide multiple times, but his cousin saved him each time.

However, Ubi stated that he and Lilian are still close friends and co-parent their son amicably, thus there is no animosity between them today.

He claims that the most important thing he has learned is that instead than hating somebody because a relationship doesn’t work out, people should take what they’ve learned from it and move on.
