A Nigerian woman who now resides in the UK has expressed intense frustration about her difficulties overseas, characterising her experience as one of adversity, prejudice, and psychological suffering since moving.
She described how living in the UK has not been easy for her in a widely viewed video on X (previously Twitter), explaining that she has had to take on multiple challenging professions in order to exist while coping with ongoing strain and survival issues.

“I don’t know why God punished me by making me a Nigerian. The worst thing that has happened to me is being Nigerian. Since moving to the UK, life has been extremely difficult.”
She claims that even though she works several professions, such as cleaning and caring for others, she still finds it difficult to deal with day-to-day living and that she has experienced bullying, insults, and even physical abuse.
She added that she feels trapped between two harsh realities and that she is unable to return to Nigeria because of the country’s continued killings and instability.
“I’ve worked as a cleaner, a care worker, cleaned sh*t and taken on all sorts of jobs just to survive, yet life remains a struggle. I have been bullied, insulted, and even slapped. At the same time, I don’t feel safe returning to Nigeria because of the killings and insecurity,” she said.
Online responses to her impassioned outburst have been divided; some have shown sympathy for her difficulties overseas, while others have denounced her harsh comments against Nigeria.
The narrative emphasises the difficulties that migrants have overseas, juggling discrimination, survival, and the emotional strain of going back home.
