Isaac Fayose, a Nigerian businessman, has bemoaned his feelings of despair and loneliness following years of political hardships.
In a widely shared video, Fayose vented his annoyance while considering his relationships, experiences, and political engagement in the states of Ekiti and Osun.
He claims that when he joined his brother in challenging the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2018, their political differences escalated.
He claimed to have taken part in demonstrations against Ibrahim Magu, the former chairman of the EFCC, and to have regularly chanted “Magu Ole.”
According to Fayose, the authorities then enquired about the individual who had called Magu a thief and purportedly looked for ways to link him.
He stated that the issue still affected him and that he continues to appear in court over a subject related to the incident.
Fayose added that while his brother’s child was on the verge of becoming a member of Egypt’s House of Assembly, his brother went on to acquire governmental jobs.
He claimed that although others advised him to keep silent, he was left to deal with his own issues.
Fayose also described how, following his wife’s passing, he went back to Ekiti to assist with a political campaign.
He claimed that while he was burying his wife, he received a call asking him to come home and assist in regaining the state.
He said he was told, “Please, please, let’s take our state back.”
Despite his own loss, Fayose claimed he chose to return after witnessing the suffering of others.
He claimed to have quickly buried his wife before returning home, where he used his own funds and made every effort to promote the political cause.
He claimed that politicians continued to get in touch with him on the eve of the election, requesting that he talk with their favourite candidate.
He remembered being informed that Oluyede, who he claimed had not before stopped by to say hello, wanted to talk to him.
According to Fayose, Oluyede thereafter went back to the President, and he and the governor they had earlier opposed grew close and were spotted posing for photos.
In his reflections on the 2022 Osun State governorship race, Fayose claimed that the political war nearly drove him insane.
He claimed that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke phoned him when he was in Australia amid the most recent political development.
