“I can’t marry a man who earns more than me” — Lady says

A man recently published a compelling story on X (previously Twitter) about a woman who stated that she would never marry a man who earns more than her.

According to the post, the lady’s opinions derive from her childhood. She grew up in a family where her mother made more than her father.

The mother frequently assigned her husband only 30% of the family tasks, while she handled the other 70%.

As her father became older, he struggled to keep up with family commitments. The mother eventually separated from him and raised the children herself.

In the home, the father could not eat unless he provided money for food, whereas food purchased by the mother was reserved solely for her and the children.

The father reportedly refused to allow the mother to contribute financially to the construction of their home, stating that he did not want her to claim joint ownership.

The mother, on the other hand, frequently chastised him by withholding food, indicating a power struggle within the family.

The woman discussed how these experiences influenced her perspective on relationships.

She stated that she would never marry a man who earns less than her, citing the desire to avoid repeating what she saw in her parents’ marriage.

The message ended with the man’s reflection: “Most of us are marrying our enemies as wives,” emphasising the complex impact of childhood events on adult relationships.
