A Nigerian woman has gone popular online after arguing with her husband about her late return home at night, prompting angry reactions on social media.
The incident reportedly started when her husband called her to ask why she was still outdoors at an odd hour and hadn’t returned, expressing concern about the time.
In a popular video posted on X (previously Twitter) by @Teeniiola, the woman responded aggressively, saying:
“Where did you send me to, and why are you asking me about my movement or where I am? Didn’t I tell you I was going to work? Am I a lost needle that they are looking for? Please don’t disturb me oo.”
She made it apparent that she felt humiliated by the enquiry, particularly given her role in financially supporting the family.
The woman also defended her independence, stating that she had already notified her husband that she would be working late and that her efforts were purely for the family’s survival.
“When you refused to work, won’t the children eat? Abi is it not your mate that will go out and look for what their family will eat? Please don’t disturb me oo. I can choose to enter the house at any given time,” she added.
According to spouse, her sentiments were influenced by the fact that he is temporarily unemployed and unable to fully support the family.
The exchange quickly sparked reactions online. One user wrote, “Even if he is jobless, respect should still remain in marriage.”
Another commented, “If she is the one feeding the family, she deserves some understanding too.”
