“I can afford to live alone, travel the world and enjoy basic amenities. The average 24-year old Nigerian can’t” — A 24-year-old lady compares life abroad with Nigeria, sparks debate online

A 24-year-old woman has sparked discussions online after sharing her views on life abroad compared to Nigeria.

In a video, she said living outside Nigeria has given her opportunities she believes many young Nigerians her age can only dream of.

According to her, she is able to live independently, travel several times a year without juggling multiple side hustles, enjoy well-maintained public amenities, and rely on legal systems that protect citizens.

She also claimed that people abroad can openly criticise government policies without fear, unlike in Nigeria, where she alleged critics may face intimidation or arrest.

The young woman further criticised Nigerians who defend politicians and celebrities despite the country’s economic challenges, urging citizens to focus more on holding leaders accountable rather than attacking those who speak out.

She added that although she would prefer to live in Nigeria, she currently feels more comfortable remaining abroad as an immigrant rather than returning to what she described as the country’s harsh realities.
