“I am shaking as I record this —Mother calls out Nigeria schools

A mother has expressed concerns about alleged abuse at a nursery school, claiming that her three-year-old son was beaten on the head by a teacher with a drumstick for failing to complete his classwork.

The event, which she documented on film, generated uproar and raised questions about corporal punishment in early childhood education.

Mother describes a scary occurrence.

In the sad video, the mom describes how she spotted injuries on her toddler’s head when he returned from school, prompting her to question school officials.

She was shocked that a child so young could be physically punished, particularly with an object.

Read what she said below;

“I am shaking as I record this right now. Look at my son’s head — he’s just three years old. A toddler that is supposed to be learning through play, but instead he was beaten with a drumstick on his head because he wasn’t doing his work.”

Calls for accountability following recurrent incidents.
The mother also disclosed that this was not the first time her kid had been physically abused at school, adding that she had previously removed him from another institution following a similar incident.

Despite obtaining apologies from the present school’s headmistress and the teacher involved, she maintained that they were insufficient to remedy the anguish caused on her kid.

She added, “His last school left bruises on his head and they apologised. I moved him thinking this school would be safer, yet here we are again. Parents need to stop settling and start demanding accountability.”

Incidents of alleged child abuse in schools have occasionally provoked national debate in Nigeria, with advocacy groups constantly urging tougher implementation of child safety policies in educational institutions.
