“His brother was shocked” — Lady shares how friend lost ₦100,000 monthly savings

A Nigerian lady has narrated how her friend lost his ₦100,000 monthly savings in an online contribution scheme and now faces eviction after his elder brother discovered he had been hiding his real salary.

According to her, the friend got a job with an oil company early this year, earning ₦200,000 monthly, but told his elder brother that his salary was only ₦100,000.

She explained that the young man lived with his elder brother, who runs a business, and joined an online contribution group to save money.

The lady said her friend regularly set aside half of his salary for the contribution scheme, hoping to receive the accumulated sum when his turn came.

However, she said things went wrong when the group administrator allegedly refused to release his money.

The lady said, “When it was finally his turn to collect his money, the group admin started giving him different excuses.”

She further narrated that the administrator eventually promised to pay him in the third week of the previous month but blocked him when he tried to follow up.

According to her, two other members ignored his pleas for help, while he was eventually removed from the group after questioning the administrator.

The situation reportedly took another turn when his elder brother found him crying over the money he had been saving since January.

The lady said, “Apparently, my friend had told him that he earned ₦100,000 monthly, which was why he never contributed anything towards the expenses in the house.”

She added that his brother became angry after learning the truth and gave him until the third week of November to vacate the house.

The lady concluded that her friend has been begging his brother to reconsider, but he has refused to listen.
