Reality TV star Mercy Eke has opened up about a thoughtful gesture from her boyfriend, saying it wasn’t the amount of money he sent that mattered, but the love and care behind the act.
Speaking during a recent interview with media personality Toke Makinwa, the BBNaija star revealed that she was craving seafood and decided to send a photo of what she wanted to her boyfriend.
According to Mercy, although the seafood cost about ₦135,000 and she could comfortably pay for it herself, her boyfriend immediately sent her ₦150,000.
“I was craving seafood and I sent it to my boyfriend, and he sent me ₦150K. It was actually ₦135K from the seller. He knows I have the money. He knows I can buy the whole thing, but he still sent it,” she said.
Mercy explained that the gesture made her feel cared for, stressing that every woman wants to feel loved regardless of her financial status.
She added that she doesn’t want a man to assume she can handle everything alone simply because she is financially independent.
“That is what I’m talking about. Don’t look at me like I can handle it. I want to feel loved. I want to feel like you are in charge.
“And that doesn’t mean he won’t still give me ₦100 million or ₦50 million, but that ₦150K, I’ll cherish it. But some guys will be like, ‘What is this for? You can afford it,’” she added.
