A woman from Washington, DC, stirred major social media debate after openly proclaiming that she prefers so-called “hood men” over men who wish to treat her well, insisting that she is unable to settle for “ugly” nice men.
The shocking remarks were made during an Instagram Live session by user chynaa.202 and later shared to X, where the video swiftly acquired popularity and elicited conflicting comments from viewers.
In the video, the lady criticised individuals she referred to as “kings” who demonstrate respect and emotional commitment, claiming that physical attraction is more important to her than character or how well a man treats her.
“Let’s keep it honest. All y’all that wanna treat me right, I don’t like y’all. I’m not one to settle.”
She went on to say that men who provide stability, care, and commitment are generally unattractive, while she prefers men who lead a more street-oriented lifestyle.
“I can find good men, but those good men be ugly. Them niggas that gonna treat you the way you wanna be treated, they’re ugly. I’m not settling.”
The woman also stated that she values financial independence over emotional happiness, preferring to remain unmarried rather than sacrifice her standards.
“So if that’s gonna leave me unhappy, I’m finna be unhappy. I’mma be happy as hell with the money that I make.”
While some social media users defended her honesty, claiming that attraction cannot be forced, others deemed her statements condescending and insulting, particularly to men who value respect and commitment in relationships.
