Gary Neville blames two Man Utd players for 2-2 draw with Everton

According to a report from Daily Post Nigeria, on Monday, June 07, 2026, Manchester United legend Gary Neville did not hold back in his criticism of Patrick Dorgu and Andrey Santos following the late equalizer that resulted in a 2-2 draw against Everton on Sunday.

Neville expressed his frustration with the defensive lapses that allowed Everton to snatch a point in the final moments of the game. United looked on course to claim their first away victory of the season after Benjamin Sesko scored with a header from a Luke Shaw cross, giving them the lead and hope for a positive result.

Prior to that, Tyrique George had scored a thunderous strike to cancel out Bryan Mbeumo’s early goal for Everton, making the game evenly poised and exciting for the fans. However, the drama unfolded in stoppage time when Ainsley Maitland-Niles unleashed a powerful shot from long range, which found its way past the United defense and equalized the match.

Neville analyzed the defensive errors that led to the goal, pointing out that Dorgu’s decision to press out of position was ill-advised and created a vulnerability.

He also highlighted that Santos failed to cover behind Dorgu, leaving space for the shot to be taken. Neville emphasized that this was a clear example of poor communication and lack of organisation at the back, which ultimately cost United valuable points.
