Fuji singer Osupa reacts as Islamic cleric claims he’ll die on January 10 2025.

Saheed Osupa, a prominent Nigerian Fuji musician, has spoken out after a notorious Islamic preacher, Al-Waraqi Olopameta, predicted his death, sparking countrywide uproar.

The problem began when a video surfaced online of Olopameta declaring that Osupa will die on January 10, 2026, which he regarded as a divine revelation. In the video, the clergyman said that God had disclosed the singer’s death to him.

He swore by the Qur’an and his own life to back up the assertion. Olopameta added that he admired Saheed Osupa as a fan.

He claimed that the singer could only prevent death by performing a ceremonial sacrifice.

He claimed that in order to prevent the foretold fate, Osupa was told to slaughter a white ram, mark it with his name, and offer it as a sacrifice. Nigerians swiftly denounced the assertion on social media. The statement was deemed risky and careless by many.

Following the release of an audio tape featuring Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Ishola Olanrewaju Alfulany, the debate intensified. Olopameta was openly challenged by the esteemed Islamic scholar. Alfulany threatened to arrest and imprison the preacher on the recording.

Additionally, he charged him of propagating incorrect teachings and distorting Islam.

Olopameta eventually acknowledged that the prophecy was not a divine revelation in response to harsh criticism. He asserted that the comment was an attempt to attract Saheed Osupa’s interest.

The disclosure increased internet reactions rather than reducing public outrage. Numerous Nigerians called for responsibility for what they called intentional incitement of terror.

A second video of Olopameta pleading for pardon later surfaced. Fearing for his life, he said he was hiding in a forest and sleeping on a banana tree.

Saheed Osupa sharply denounced the cleric’s behaviour in his first response. He cautioned Olopameta to refrain from cursing him and other performers to death.

The Fuji star distanced himself entirely from the prophecy and called Olopameta a phoney preacher. In addition, he sent a stern warning that he would not pass away as expected.

Osupa emphasised that careless spiritual claims should not be accepted by adding that Olopameta will pass away before him.

The incident is still causing controversy, with many Nigerians demanding tougher penalties for those who incite fear by making false religious claims.
