Derrikson Quiros, a Costa Rican footballer, has broken up with his fiancée, just three days after proposing on the pitch in front of football fans.

After playing a National League Clausura match, the Xelaju player proposed to his girlfriend, Wendy.

He got down on one knee to propose, and she accepted, after which they kissed. 

However, only three days after their public engagement, Quiros announced that he had split from his girlfriend.

“Yes, it is true that my relationship has ended,” he posted on Instagram Stories. “It was a difficult personal situation, just like any breakup, but I prefer to handle it with dignity and maturity.” 

The Costa Rican footballer did not explain what caused the shocking turn of events.
