Football Star Raheem Sterling Arrested

Former England international Raheem Sterling has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after his Lamborghini crashed into motorway barriers in Hampshire.

The 31-year-old footballer was reportedly stopped by police on Thursday morning after the incident on the M3 southbound, near the Minley Interchange.

Hampshire Police said officers received a report shortly before 9am that a Lamborghini had hit barriers on the motorway.

The force said no other vehicle was involved in the crash and no injury was reported.

Police said the driver, a 31-year-old man from Berkshire, was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs, dangerous driving, possession of a Class C drug and failing to provide a specimen.

He has been released on bail while investigations continue.

Sterling’s representatives declined to comment when contacted by the media.

The incident comes at a difficult period in the career of the former Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea forward.

Sterling, who won several major honours during his successful spell at Manchester City, has struggled to regain his best form since leaving the club in 2022.

He moved to Chelsea in a big-money transfer but later fell out of favour at Stamford Bridge before spending time on loan at Arsenal.

The winger, who earned 82 caps for England, last played for the national team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He later joined Dutch side Feyenoord, but endured a difficult spell, making only a handful of appearances without scoring before the end of the season.

The police investigation is ongoing.
