EU accuses four p0rn platforms of failing to stop children from accessing adult content

Four major p0√nographic platforms have been accused by the European Commission of failing to stop children from accessing adult content, which could result in large fines under EU digital regulations.

According to the Commission’s preliminary findings, minors were able to access p0rnhub, Stripchat, XNXX, and XVideos with little protection, frequently just a simple confirmation that users were over 18.

The EU said this approach fails to adequately protect children’s rights and well-being, in breach of its Digital Services Act rules. At the same time, the Commission has opened a separate investigation into Snapchat, amid concerns the platform may not be doing enough to safeguard younger users.

Officials said the probe will examine whether Snapchat exposed minors to risks such as grooming attempts and content related to illegal activities, including drug sales. The investigation marks the first case against Snapchat under the EU’s Digital Services Act.

A spokesperson for Snapchat said user safety remains a priority. “As online risks evolve, we continuously review, strengthen, and invest in these safeguards,” the company said, adding that it has “fully cooperated with the commission” and will continue to work toward meeting regulatory standards.

The developments come as regulators across Europe increase scrutiny of major online platforms over child safety and digital responsibility.
