The Enugu State Police Command has dismissed reports alleging a planned infiltration, k!dnapping, and att@ck on the campus of University of Nigeria, Nsukka and its surrounding communities.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, the police described the report as false, misleading, and deliberately designed to create fear and panic within the university community.

Ndukwe stated that intelligence and threat assessments carried out by the command found no credible information indicating any planned att@ck or security threat against the institution.

He added that the police, working in collaboration with university authorities and other security agencies, have put adequate security measures in place within and around the campus and will continue to strengthen them as necessary to protect lives and property.

According to the spokesperson, individuals behind the false report, described as a cr!minal syndicate operating under the guise of “Anonymous” and other social media aliases, have repeatedly circulated similar claims over the years to incite fear, cause public panic, and undermine peace in the state.

He further disclosed that intelligence-led investigations are ongoing to identify and prosecute those responsible for spreading the misinformation and any collaborators.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reassured the university’s management, staff, students, and residents that adequate security measures remain in place and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining public safety.

He urged the public to disregard the report and avoid sharing unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic, warning that such actions could attract legal consequences. He also encouraged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious persons or activities through established security channels.
