DSS Rescues 5-year-old Boy K!dn@pped in Kano, Arrests Suspect After N15 Million Ransom Demand

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Kano have successfully rescued a five-year-old boy, Muhammad Haruna, following his abd¥ction in Danzaki Village, Minjibir Local Government Area. The k!dn@ppers had reportedly demanded a ransom of N15 million from the boy’s family.

The rescue operation occurred around 7:40 p.m. on February 12, 2026, after authorities received a formal complaint about the child’s disappearance. Acting swiftly, the DSS deployed a tactical team that tracked the case and conducted a coordinated operation, leading to the safe recovery of the minor.

During the operation, 20-year-old Aminu Mukhtar was arrested while allegedly negotiating the ransom with the victim’s father over a mobile phone. Preliminary questioning revealed that Mukhtar admitted to abd¥cting the boy with the intent to extort money.

The suspect remains in DSS custody as investigations continue, while the rescued child has been placed under protective care. Authorities are following all necessary procedures to ensure the safety of the victim and to bring any accomplices to justice.
