A woman has sparked an online conversation after sharing a letter she said was written to her by a teenage girl criticising her dressing and linking women’s clothing to men’s sexual behaviour.

In a viral video, the woman explained that the teenager handed her a letter containing several observations about her appearance and conduct.

Teenager criticises woman’s dressing

According to the woman, one section of the letter accused her of distracting herself and other people, describing the alleged behaviour as a sin.

She said another part of the letter advised her to “be dressed modestly as possible” and suggested that women could bear significant responsibility when men look at them lustfully if they are dressed indecently.

The woman, however, disagreed with the criticism and said she considered the outfit she was wearing to be modest.

The incident has sparked discussions online about modesty, personal responsibility, religious beliefs and the extent to which women should be held accountable for men’s reactions to their appearance.
