A family nearly ordered the cancellation of their loved one’s funeral after learning that her eyes were missing, causing drama in Edo State last Friday.

MC Oviakpo, a friend of the deceased’s husband, claims that on the day of the funeral, the family went to the mortuary to retrieve her body and found out that her eyes were missing.

When questioned, the mortuary attendant stated that after her body was cleaned with chemicals, the eye vanished. However, the deceased’s family rejected this explanation and demanded that the deceased’s husband present her body in the full form in which they were married, which meant that her eyes had to be in place before the funeral could take place.

After much argument, a doctor was invited by the deceased woman’s family and after carry out a thorough examination, he confirmed that the eyes got affected by the chemicals used to embalm her ad also because of her nine-months stay in the mortuary. The family of the deceased woman then agreed to proceed with her funeral.
