A Nigerian man has sparked heated debate online after posting his thoughts on marriage, urging men not to formally marry a lady until they had lived with for at least five years and had children.
In his post, he recommended men to closely investigate their prospective partner’s family background, particularly her mother, as it may provide insight into her future proclivities.
He also proposed that after paying the bride price or having a traditional wedding, couples should cohabit for years before considering legal marriage.
He believes that legalising the union should only occur after the lady has demonstrated “peaceful, supportive, faithful” behaviour and has had one or two children.
He also argued that many women “pretend” before marriage and that only time can truly test one’s character.

“Check the mother of your WIFE TO BE wellyou would get some clue about her tendencies.
Howbeit, I THINK MEN SHOULD START LIVING WITH NOWADAYS WOMEN FIRST, after the BRIDE PRICE/TRADITIONAL WEDDING HAS BEEN CONDUCTED.
After say 5years, if she is peacefull, supportive, faithful and has given you one or two children, YOU MAY THEN GO AHEAD TO MARRY HER LEGALLY, THAT IS IF SHE INSIST ON LEGAL MARRIAGE.

MEN, STOP LEGAL MARRIAGE WITH LADIES YOU HAVE NOT LIVED WITH FOR 5YEARS AT LEAST, AND HAS NO CHILD FOR YOU.”
