The camp of African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has challenged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to face Nigerians at the ballot box rather than allegedly use Ebola or other excuses to avoid testing his popularity.
Atiku’s senior media aide, Phrank Shuaibu, made the call in a statement issued on Wednesday while commenting on the country’s current political situation.
According to the camp, the President should stop relying on excuses and allow Nigerians to determine through their votes whether they still support his administration.
It maintained that many Nigerians are currently grappling with hardship and insisted that the ballot box remains the best way to gauge the President’s standing among the people.
“Tinubu must face Nigerians at the ballot box, not hide behind Ebola,” the statement said.
The camp further argued that neither Ebola nor any other excuse would shield the administration from Nigerians’ verdict over the difficulties they are experiencing.
It stressed that democracy depends on leaders submitting themselves to the people’s decision through elections rather than seeking refuge in excuses.
