Stephen Vincent Chavez has admitted in court to $3xually abu$ing his biological daughter after allegedly providing her with alcohol during a visit to his home in California.
The 41-year-old pleaded guilty on Monday, May 19, to one felony count of incest and one misdemeanor charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor in connection with the abu$e of his 18-year-old daughter, Makayla Chavez.
According to prosecutors, Chavez also admitted to abu$ing a position of trust and taking advantage of a vulnerable victim. Investigators said the incident occurred in July 2025 while Makayla was staying with him at his home in Moorpark after moving from North Carolina in hopes of starting a new chapter in her life.
Authorities alleged that after a family gathering involving alcohol, Chavez purchased more alcohol for himself and his daughter before $3xually abu#ing her at home.
The case later drew public outrage after reports indicated that Chavez is expected to receive a three-year state prison sentence. Authorities also disclosed that Makayla later died by suicide in December 2025, several months after the incident.
