On Friday, the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ikeja, Lagos State, remanded a teenager, Isreal Mendi, in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defaming his neighbour’s four-year-old daughter.
Mendi, who lives in Ajah, Lagos, was charged with √@pe.
On Friday, Chief Magistrate M. F. Onamusi declined to hear the teenager’s plea and ordered his remand until April 9, 2026, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, informed the court that the offense was committed on February 16 at the defendant’s residence.
Ademigbuji alleged that Mendi lured the girl into his room under the pretext of sending her to her brother, and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
He added that the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
