Charly Boy melts heart as he surprises Obasanjo with a huge box on his 89th birthday

Veteran entertainer Charles Oputa, often known as Charly Boy, melted hearts online after surprising former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo on his 89th birthday.

In a video posted to his X (previously Twitter) profile, Charly Boy rushed the party while holding a hefty gift box balanced on his head before handing it to the older statesman.

According to him, the hall was packed with laughter and enthusiasm as visitors arrived to honour the former President.

“Lately, I don find myself falling for Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. No be play Baba na man of many parts. E be like say our relationship don shift enter another level o… The kind level wey dey warm my heart and dey always make Baba smile anytime him sight me.”

“Sometimes I even dey feel say my late papa, wey be Baba old friend, still dey whisper to me through am… but deep down, the feeling is real.”

He also mentioned that the friendship reminds him of his late father, who was a close friend of the previous president.

Charly Boy described the gathering as vibrant, with visitors exchanging greetings while food and drinks flowed freely.

He then carried his birthday present in a dramatic fashion, balancing it on his head as he proceeded slowly to the high table where Obasanjo sat.

“I carry my birthday gift. But I no carry am normal way. I balance am for my head, gidigba! Village boy style. Step by step, I waka go the high table… just respect, rhythm and small drama,” he added.

However, the moment that made everyone chuckle was when Obasanjo planted a kiss on his head after accepting the present.

Charly Boy went on to say that celebrations might be more about honouring people and valuing their contributions than extended speeches or luxury.

The wonderful birthday event has generated emotions online, with many praising Charly Boy’s humorous and polite relationship with the former president.
