Businessman shares journey from ₦130k settlement to success after returning to former boss

A Nigerian businessman shared how a ₦130,000 settlement from his boss led to long-term success.

The man known as Ebuka Best on TikTok turned to the platform to tell his experience.

According to him, he worked for his boss for seven years before earning the sum, which he initially thought was insufficient.

After returning to his village, he decided to return and continue working for his employer for another two years.

He added that the turning point came when his supervisor introduced him to major Kano suppliers, who vouch for him and allowed him to receive products on credit. With the help of other suppliers, he was able to supply his shop and eventually expand his business.

Reflecting on the event, he concluded that success is not always determined by the initial financial settlement, but rather by the subsequent possibilities, relationships, and decisions.

Speaking in Igbo, read what he said below…

“My oga settled me with 130K after serving him for 7 years. He told me after 7 years of serving him that things weren’t really well for him and he didn’t have enough money to settle me. After he settled me and I went to the village, I returned back to my oga’s house and served him for another 2 more years, making it 9 years.

After I stayed at his place for another 2 years, he took me to Kano and began introducing me to his supplies. He will told the suppliers that I’m his boy and anything I want they should give me on credit, and if I ran away with their money, he would pay. He took me to like 4 shops and introduced me like that.

After that journey, those suppliers began supplying me goods, my shop became filled with goods. The first supplier gave me goods of N480K as of years ago, the second one gave me goods of about 200K and the other about 600K.

Sometimes it’s not the money you are settled with that makes you rich sometimes it’s about how you started the journey.

Some people said that my returning to my oga’s house was a f00lish decision, but if I had stayed in the village that 130K would have finished. Thank God for the wisdom of my mother who asked me to return back to my oga’s house….”
